My Disney

Magic Kingdom

Welcome to Your Guide to the Most Magical Place on Earth Magic Kingdom.

This Guide is made to help you navigate Magic Kingdom like a Pro. It is going to change the way you do Disney. It is going to show you that going to Disney shouldn’t be stressful and hard. The guide is filled with everything you need to know about Magic Kingdom dining, attractions, shows, freebies, and a guide to experience Magic Kingdom with little ones.

Let’s get started and become Magic Kingdom Pros…………………….

Where to Go for Early Entry

1. Early Entry ……………..

Early Entry is a perk for Disney Resort guests (staying at a Disney Resort. This gives Disney Resort Guests to the rides at Magic Kingdom 30 minutes before the park opens to the general public. To see if your hotel is included check this list ⇒CLICK HERE

I recommend getting to the park 30 minutes before early entry. So, an hour before the official park opens. To use Early Entry a cast member will either scan your magic band or your ticket. To find the Early Entry entrance look for Cast Member with Early Entry Signs.

FYI: Disney is allowing guests inside the lands before Early Entry begins. You can start lining up for rides before early entry.

Important Note: If these rides have over a 30-minute wait time head to other rides and then head to these rides at the end of the night after the fireworks.

Early Entry Strategy:

These are the rides I would head to first as these are the rides with the highest wait times during the day.

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Space Mountain

You can select the order you would like to do them depending on your family’s needs.

Do Not Use Your Early Entry Time on the Following Rides:

  • Prince Charming Carrousel
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover
  • Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.                                                                                              These Attractions usually have low wait times throughout the day.

Important Note:

Only Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open during Early Entry. Here is the list of the rides open in each land.

Fantasyland

Tomorrowland

Rope Dropping ……………..

“What is Rope Drop?” you might wonder. Simply put, it’s when a park opens for the day, and guests are allowed in after the ropes are removed. Essentially, rope dropping means arriving before the official opening time to be among the first inside. If you don’t have Early Entry (staying offsite), I suggest getting to Magic Kingdom at least an hour early.

Do Not Rope Drop the Following Rides/Attractions:

  • Prince Charming Carrousel
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic,
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
  • Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
  • These Attractions usually have low wait times throughout the day.

Rope Dropping Strategy:

These are the rides I would head to as these are the rides with the highest wait times during the day.

  • TRON Lightcycle /Run
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Jungle Cruise

Important Note:If these rides have over 40 minute wait time head to other rides and then head to these rides at the end of the night after the fireworks.

2.How to Get to Magic Kingdom …….

Getting to Magic Kingdom can be tricky if you’re not staying at a resort. Keep this in mind when planning your visit. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the park from the parking lot.

Disney Bus:

All Disney resort guests enjoy complimentary buses directly to Magic Kingdom’s gate. Note: No car seat is required, and strollers are welcome, though they must be folded. Check exact bus times on the My Disney Experience App under your resort tab; buses typically start running 90 minutes before park opening.

Important: If staying at the Swan or Dolphin, you’ll be dropped off at the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there, proceed through security and board the monorail or ferry to reach Magic Kingdom’s gate.

Other Resort Buses:

There are other resorts that provide complimentary transportation. These buses will drop you off at the Ticket and Transportation Center and then you will head to security and then the monorail or ferry to get to the gate.

Non-Disney Transportation (Personal Car):

Parking at Disney varies: standard is $35, preferred ranges from $45 to $55 for all day. If you’re park hopping, you only pay once. Guests of Disney Resort hotels and select Annual Passholders get standard parking included. They can upgrade to preferred for a fee. The parking lot opens 90 minutes before early entry.

After you park your vehicle, you have to then get on a tram or walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center where you have to go through security and after security you have to get on a ferry or monorail to get to the gate at Magic Kingdom

FYI: the tram stops working 120 minutes after the park closes and the Monorail as well.

Uber or Lyft:

FYI Magic Kingdom is the only park that doesn’t allow guests to be dropped off at the gate. You will be dropped off at the Ticket and Transportation Center and then you will head to security and then the monorail or ferry to get to the gate.

Disney Pro Tip: if you use a Minnie Van service (this is operated by Lyft) you’ll get a Disney Cast Member to drive you to the Gate. They also come with 2 car seats. (I always recommend the Minnie van because of the car seats.) Minnie Van Services only operate on Disney Property.

Monorail:

If you are staying at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, or Contemporary you can take the Monorail straight to Magic Kingdom. You will go through security inside the hotel before you head to the monorail. Side Note: the Grand Floridian and Contemporary also have walking paths to Magic Kingdom.

IMPORTANT NOTE for Everyone:

Magic Kingdom will let everyone inside the park an hour before the park opens, no matter where you are staying. Everyone is allowed inside Main Street and the shops are open. I always recommend to get there at least an hour before the park opens to take pictures in front of the castle, shop, get coffee, and take advantage of the low rope drop wait times.

Side Note for Everyone: The tram and monorail run 120 minutes after park closes. So make sure you don’t miss the monorail or tram.

Parades at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has two morning parades. The Festival of Fantasy Parade is the longest, lasting about 30 minutes as it travels through Main Street. You’ll spot many characters and princesses like Cinderella, Rapunzel, Belle, Elsa, and Anna. The second, Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, lasting around 10-15 minutes. You’ll see characters like Bruno, Miguel, The Incredibles, Mary Poppins, and more in this parade. Keep an eye on the app for updated times as they can change frequently.

There is also a night time parade called Disney Starlight: Dream the night away. Unlike the other parades, this parade starts on Main Street and ends in Frontierland.

Best Parade Viewing Spots: I recommend Frontierland across from Westward Ho or the entrance of Magic Kingdom in front of Town Square Theater.

Parade Tips:

  • If you plan on watching the parades by the castle, make sure you arrive about 30 minutes before the parade starts.
  • Confirm the parade times on the My Disney Experience app as they constantly change.
  • Bring snacks to keep the kiddos busy & if you have little one’s go to the restroom before you go to the parades.
  • If you watch in Frontierland you have time to take advantage of the low ride wait times as the parade heads to Main Street.

Happily, Ever After – The Fireworks

“Happily Ever After” at Magic Kingdom is a captivating fireworks and projection show that brings Disney’s enchanting stories to life with lights, music, and magic. Set against the iconic Cinderella Castle, this spectacular display takes guests on a magical journey through timeless tales. With dazzling visual effects and a stirring musical score, it’s a must-see finale that leaves you believing in magic. Check the Disney App for showtimes as they may vary.

IMPORTANT NOTE- if you are going to Magic Kingdom on a Halloween or Christmas party and you don’t have tickets to the party, the park will close at 6pm and there won’t be any fireworks that night.

Fireworks Tips:

  • Get to Main Street at least 30-45 minutes before Happily Ever After starts.
  • Pick up some snacks and relax until the show begins.
  • Make sure you head to the restroom before the fireworks
  • I don’t recommend leaving Magic Kingdom when the fireworks end. Instead go on rides or have a late dinner/snack.
  • The fireworks can get a little loud, if you have little ones that are sensitive to noise, you might want to consider noise canceling headphones.

Freebie: If you want to see the Magic Kingdom Fireworks without going inside Magic Kingdom- you can see them from the Polynesian, Contemporary, and the Grand Floridian. My favorite spot is the Contemporary.

Extras: Magic Kingdom offers different way to watch the fireworks at an additional cost here they are:

1. Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise- watch the fireworks from an iconic ferryboat includes beverages, cheeses, desserts, and, refreshing beverages, including an assortment of beer and wine for Guests ages 21.  (reservations are needed for this)
2. Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties: Seats & Sweets: starts at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant with delicious desserts prepared by a pastry chef, such as chocolate-dipped strawberries and chocolate silk tarts, a variety of cheeses, refreshing beverages, including an assortment of beer and wine for Guests ages 21. Then you head to the restaurants patio to see
the fireworks.
3. Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties: Pre- Party starts at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant with delicious desserts prepared by a pastry chef, such as chocolate-dipped strawberries and chocolate silk tarts, a variety of cheeses, refreshing beverages, including an assortment of beer and wine for Guests ages 21. Shortly before the Happily Ever After begins Cast Members will escort you to a prime standing area in the Plaza Garden. Here, you’ll see the skies come alive during the Happily Ever After fireworks extravaganz
4. Fireworks Cruise: You will embark on the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake with synchronized audio onboard to fully immerse you in the moment. It includes assorted snacks and soft drinks. Boats seats up to 10 guests.

Tips for MVMCP

  • If a certain character is a priority to you get in line before the party starts and the lines are a lot shorter
  • Make a plan. You can’t see it all. So, make sure you have an idea of what you want to do. I definitely recommend all the shows in front of Cinderella’s Castle, the fireworks, and the parade.

  • Check the weather forecast before you go and be prepared.
  • If you want to do rides during the party, I recommend focusing on the rides with a Holiday Twist.

4.Dining at Magic Kingdom

This section will show you all the dining options per land and will specify which are quick service, character, and which ones are mobile order friendly. Important Note: all character dining always needs reservations.

Dining Reservations Tips:

If you can’t find dining reservations check the app after 11:30pm. Availability opens up at night.

Third Party Services that you can use:

mousedining.com this is a third-party service that emails you notifications of when there is availability. The service is free for 6 alerts and email only, or $9 a month for 50 alerts and texts, or $90 a year for 100 alerts.

addmoremagic.com they make the reservations for you. You select the restaurant you want your party size and they do all the work. The cost for this is $3 per person for the first 3 guests and $1 a person for each guest after the third person.

Magicalerts.com– this is a third-party service that emails you notifications of when there is availability. They text you a link and you click on the link and it takes you to that dining reservation. All you have to
do is book it. You can use MAGIC for 3 free alerts.

Disney Dining Plan Hack:

If you are planning on purchasing the dining plan and going to EPCOT save your snack credits and you can use them on some of the festival booths. In my opinion this is the best way to use your snack credits.

Disney Dining Plan:

Is it worth the cost? Here is a link https://www.distripplanner.com/  to a calculator that where you input your family’s needs and will help you determine if the Disney Dining Plan worth the cost for your family.

Important Note: Kids under 3 years old eat for free at family style restaurants including character meals.

5.Magic Kingdom with Little Ones

Magic Kingdom is one of the best Disney parks for little ones. It has over 20 attractions with no height requirements, playgrounds/play areas, and interactive ride queues, and lots of character meets.

Take me To:

Best Rides for Little Ones. These Are Our Favorites.

The land with the most rides with no height requirements is Fantasyland, but there are other rides throughout the park that are perfect for little ones as well. Here are our favorite ones:

  • Jungle Cruise
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • It’s a Small World
  • Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Haunted Mansion*
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel
  • Peoplemover

*This ride can be a little scary for little ones. The entire ride is dark and full of ghosts, but my 3-year-old loves it.

Best Shows for
Little Ones

  • Enchanted Tales with Belle
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic (4D movie)
  • Festival of Fantasy Parade
  • Adventure Friends Cavalcade
  • Mickeys Magical Friendship Faire

Rides with Interactive
Queues

  • Haunted Mansion
  • Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

  • Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid
  • Peter Pan’s Flight

Best Attractions for Naps (these attractions will help your little one fall asleep )

  • Peoplemover
  • The Carousel of Progress
  • The Hall of Presidents

Scariest Rides for Kiddos

  • Astro Orbiter
  • Haunted Mansion (not necessarlity scary, but if your kiddos are afraid of the dark and ghosts be a little careful with this ride)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean- it is very dark and it has a drop at the start of the ride.

Playgrounds/Play Areas

Here are the best spots for your little ones to run around and play and get a break from the crowds.

1. The Standy Queue of the Dumbo Ride – it is an indoor playground your kiddos can play inside while waiting in line and it located in Fantasyland (currently closed)

2. Queue for Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh- this is a huge outdoor play area available as you wait in line. This is located in Fantasyland

3. Swiss Family Treehouse- this area takes you up to see the tree house. Note there are a lot of steps to this activity. This is located in Adventureland

5. Casey Jr. Splash Pad- located in Fantasyland. This is perfect for hot days you can let your little ones run around and get wet

6. Adventureland Misters- you can find these across from the Magic Carpet ride in Adventureland. It’s perfect for little ones to cool off.

7. Across from the Little Mermaid Ride there is a DVC kiosk- It has a little play area for kiddos and it’s always empty. (FYI DVC Kiosks throughout the parks sometimes have little play areas for kiddos)

Best Quick Service Places to Eat with Picky Eaters or Kiddos that Have Allergies:

  • Pinocchio Village Haus- Fantasyland (allergy friendly & great for picky eaters ) . This place also nhas tables that face It’s a Small World and they have signs to hold up and interact with guests on the ride.
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe- Tomorrowland- (Picky Eaters )
  • Columbia Harbour Café – Liberty Square (allergy friendly)
  • Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café (allergy friendly)

**If you are looking for a healthy option on the kid’s menu, check the items that say Kids’ Disney  Check Meals *****

Baby Center

The Baby Center at Magic Kingdom is located on Main Street next to the First Aid right by the Crystal Palace. It is an air-conditioned location that is fully staffed and features lots of helpful amenities for families with babies, toddlers, and kids. They include the following:

We love stopping by to take breaks they have seating for parents and children and they always have a movie or cartoons playing.

First Haircut

You can get your kiddos first haircut or just a haircut at Harmony Barber Shop located on Main Street. Haircut prices start at $20. The first haircut package is $28 and includes the haircut, commemorative Mickey Ears Hat, keepsake lock of hair, and an official milestone certificate.

This is one of my favorites. You get to eat inside Cinderellas Castle and you meet Cinderella and other Disney Princesses. This is available during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This requires a reservation and these reservations are a little hard to get.

This is one of my favorites. You get to eat inside Cinderellas Castle and you meet Cinderella and other Disney Princesses. This is available during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This requires a reservation and these reservations are a little hard to get.

Character Dining on Monorail Resorts

This is located inside the Contemporary Resort. Although it isn’t inside Magic Kingdom it is relatively close you can hop on the monorail resort to get here. You can have breakfast or dinner buffet with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald. This requires a reservation.

This is located at the Polynesian Resort. Although it isn’t inside Magic Kingdom it is relatively close you can hop on the resort monorail to get here. This is family style breakfast with Lilo and Stich.

Reminder: Characters are only available during breakfast.

Quiet Areas

Magic Kingdom is the busiest park at Disney World and there are times it can get a little overwhelming for little ones.  These are my favorite areas to get away from the crowds and also perfect for naps

Stroller Tips:

I definitely recommend a stroller for kiddos. Especially if they are under 7 years old. I personally don’t recommend the Disney Strollers because they are hard and don’t recline when kiddos fall asleep.

Stroller Rules:

  • Strollers larger than 31” (79 cm) in width and 52” (132cm) in length are not permitted. Stroller wagons are also not permitted.
  • Strollers are not allowed on escalators. Use of strollers is permitted on elevators and ramps,  available at certain locations.
  • A child must be removed from his or her stroller while riding on a parking lot tram.
  • Do not leave personal belongings in an unattended stroller.
  • Strollers may be moved by a Cast Member due to operational needs.

Going Through Security with a stroller:

Do these 3 things Before You Head to Security:

  • Make sure everything is cleared from underneath your stroller, remove all bags, umbrellas, toys, foo, coolers, etc., before you head to security.
  • Remove all your electronics and anything containing metal and set them on your stroller caddy. This includes phone chargers, battery packs, sunglass cases, makeup compacts.
  • Open up your sunshades on your stroller and now you are ready to head to security

Heading to security:

  • The adult pushing the stroller will go to the stroller security check point. Everyone else will go through the regular metal detector line. Your family will be separated. Don’t worry you won’t need tickets yet. I suggest handing all the stuff from the stroller to the people heading through the regular metal detector.
  • Once its your turned to be checked they will check your stroller caddy and the stroller. They will ask you to leave your kiddo on the stroller as you walk through the metal detector. The stroller and your kiddo will not go through the metal detector. There is one exception if your kiddo is old enough to walk, they will make you take your kiddo through the metal detector with you.
  • If you the metal detector detects anything they will send you to a second checkpoint if not you are free to join the rest of your party.

Disney Stroller Rental

Single Stroller (recommended for children 50lbs or less)
Daily: $15
Multi-Day: $13 per day

Third party stroller companies to rent strollers, cribs, playpens etc. from:

Resort Hopping with Little Ones

If you are considering resort hopping and not sure which resorts are the best and easiest to access for kiddos here are my favorites. The best way to get to the resorts without any dining reservations is to take Disney Transportation from Disney Springs.

The skyliner resorts are definitely my favorite resorts for kiddos and the reason why is because you have multiple resorts within reach and all of them have activities for kiddos. The resorts listed below are my favorites:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
o They have a Nemo Playground, Cars Land, Little Mermaid Section, and Lion King. It makes for great pictures and kiddos have so much fun here
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
I Love their playground and they have an area called Caribbean Cay that has lounge chairs and is very peaceful and quiet. I love taking breaks here. It is perfect for naps.
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
o They have outdoor games for kiddos to play with and beautiful wall art of Peter Pan and Rapunzel
  • Disney Boardwalk
o This is my favorite and it’s a perfect resort to end the day in. They have free live entertainment and you can watch the EPCOT fireworks from here.

** there is a skyliner scavenger hunt you can also do. You pick up the Scavenger Hunt inside any of the Skyliner resorts. ***

My Favorite things to do at other resorts:

  • Contemporary, Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from here. My favorite location is the Contemporary. During the holidays they also have  gingerbread décor at the Grand Floridian and Contemporary.
  • Fort Wilderness Resort Campground: they have pony rides for little ones and horseback riding for adults. Pony rides are walk on and horseback riding requires reservations. Chip and Dale Sing a Long this is so much fun. During Halloween and Christmas guests decorate the campgrounds.
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge: you can see the Safari animals roaming around for free and they also have the Strings of Memories Activity where you go around the resort doing different activities with cast members and when you finish each activity you collect a bead. You can collect 8 beads in total.
  • All resorts have a movie under the stars. We pack snacks and drinks and go watch a movie. It’s one of our favorite things to do.

6.Magic Kingdom Freebies

1.Pixie Dust at Sir Mickeys or Bonjour Village- a fairy godmother will sprinkle magic glitter on you with a special wand. Kids have to be at least 3 for this experience.

2. A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas: head over to Adventureland and sign up for a free 5-part interactive scavenger hunt where you’ll track down treasure and open secret passages throughout Adventureland and collect a prize at the end.

3.Honorary Jungle Cruise Skipper: You can get selected to be an Honorary Jungle Skipper and given a free souvenir card.

4. Celebration Buttons- you can pick these up at Guest Services

5. You can take pictures with Cinderella’s Slipper at the Grand Floridian

7.Lightning Lane Strategy

Lightning Lane Multi Pass  is a paid service at Disney World that lets guests access Lightning Lane entrances for select attractions, skipping standby lines. It’s like the old FastPass system, available for a daily fee per park and per person. Prices start at $15 and can go up to $39, depending on factors like park attendance. You can purchase it on the My Disney Experience App.

Lightning Lane Single Pass- What is It? These are lightning lanes for the most in demand attractions. These are not available with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Magic Kingdom has 2- TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

What Lightning Lanes to Book First at Magic Kingdom (these are the lightning lanes that sell out first)

Lightning Lane Strategy for Little Ones

Here is the order I would book the Lighting Lanes Magic Kingdom. This strategy is for little ones. I’m only going to be using the no height requirements attractions.

The rest of the attraction I would select as they become available.

Lightning Lane Strategy for Thrills

  1. Tiana’s Bayou
  2. Space Mountain
  3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad-currently closed
  4. The Barnstormer

** If You want to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON here is how you can ride it without the long wait time***

1. Rope drop it make it your first ride,
2. Purchase an Single Pass lighting lane
3. The best option is go on the ride after the fireworks at the end of the night. Everyone is leaving
the park and the lines are short.

The rest of the attraction I would select as they become available.

8.Mobile App 101

My Disney Experience App Basics this app is going to be your best friend at the park. I’m going to walk you through some of the important features in the app like how to order food, book lighting lanes, find characters, entertainment and so much more. Hope this is helpful.

9. Disney Discounted Merchandise

Discounted Disney Merchandise

There are 2 Disney Character Warehouses at the outlets where you can find discounted Disney  merchandise from the parks. Most of the merchandise there is over 50% off. They have everything clothes, loungefly bags, mickey ears, and so much more. They get new stuff in every day except on Sundays. If you want the best stuff, get there early. The character warehouse on Vineland is a lot bigger and has more selections of items. The store at Internation Drive is smaller but a lot more organized and you can sometimes find more loungefly bags there. Here are the locations to both stores:

  1.  Disney Character Warehouse
4969 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819
  2. Disney Character Warehouse
    8200 Vineland Ave #1252, Orlando, FL 32821

If you like Antique Disney Merchandise there is a store in Lakeland, Fl that sells antique Disney items, resort furniture, and props from rides. Here is the address:

Lakeland Antique Mall
3530 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland FL 33809

10.Magic Kingdom Tips

1. Never Go to Magic Kingdom on Mondays. It is the busiest day in Magic Kingdom.

12. How to Beat the Crowds

Magic Kingdom is the most popular park at Disney World, but there are a few ways to beat the crowds.

Here are some tips:

1. Do not go to Magic Kingdom on Mondays and Saturdays. Most people start their vacation on Monday and they start at Magic Kingdom. Also, historically crowds are usually higher on Mondays and Saturdays. So, if possible go to Magic Kingdom any other day except Monday and Saturday.

2. Try to get to the park at least an hour before the park opens. Magic Kingdom allows all guest inside on Main Street an hour before the park opens.

3. If you want shorter lines for rides- ride attractions during the parades, you don’t have to miss the parade. Just watch the parade at Frontierland and then head to rides after it goes through the Frontierland. The parade still has to go through Main Street so you have about 30-45 minutes of low ride wait times.

4. Go on the rides at the end of the night after the fireworks. This is a great time to ride the bigger rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight and Jungle Cruise

5. Check a crowd calendar map. UnderCover Tourist has a free one that shows when historically are the busy times and low times. https://www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/crowd-calendar/

6. You can also use StandySkipper if you are purchasing Lightning Lanes it is a third party service that books lighting lanes for you. You just let it know what lighting lanes you want and the times and it does the work.
